Lions’ Lair Undergoing Remodeling

Two years ago, the Midway Lions, led by PID Don Nagode, began painting the club room.  At that time it was discovered that one of the walls was in need of repair because of water damage and old age.  Recently, Lion Jack Klenik obtained the needed supplies and, with the aid of a local construction crew, made the needed improvements to the wall’s structure.  Treasurer Bill Sergi finished the dry wall..  This wall will soon be painted to match the other walls.  The needed repairs to the linoleum floor will be done at some future time

Tribute to Lion Jack

The Midway Area Lions Club truly lost a remarkable Lion when Lion  Jack N. Schwartz passed away on November 26, 2007.  Lion Schwartz, a Melvin Jones Fellow, gave his all to Lionism:  He participated in every activity; over the years, he raised many thousands of dollars for Lions Club charities; and never missed a meeting even while struggling with the cruelties of cancer.  In fact, the first meeting he missed was on the day he passed away.

Lion Jack proved his leadership skills in many areas of life but in 1999-2000 he received the President Excellence Award for being an outstanding President of the Midway Lions.  He chaired the National Honor Society Awards Committee for many years, and he was Public Relations  Chairperson.  In addition, he introduced six new members into Lionism.

Most of all, Lion Jack will probably be remembered by his fellow lions for his sense of humor.  Not a meeting went by that Lion Jack didn’t have a joke, story, or an amusing anecdote to relate.
