I was asked to write a poem about a fallen fire fighter Gregory Sikorsky from New York Fire Department
Engine Co. 47 assigned to squad 41. he lost his life at the WTC saving lives. This was an honor to
write this, I feel as if I knew him and the fine person he was. There are more poems coming and I
will be adding them as I go along. I also included a link to his memoial page and to other fallen firefighters.
Lets never forget out public servants both serving now and those who have lost their lives trying to
save others

In Memory of Gregory Sikorky Pictured with, His Dalmation Dominic Engine Co. 47 Assigned
Squad 41 NYFD
On Sept 11th: Our lives were sadly changed: As a fireman you
responded: But now our lives are not the same: You lost your life so suddenly: When duty called
to you: But we know you didn't die in vain: It was a job you loved to do: You touched the lives
of everyone: That was so close to you: Your loving wife: Your mom and dad: Your precious
little son: He will be so proud of you: when he learns of what you've done: Your comrades that
you worked with: Will carry on your dream: Of restoring that mack fire truck: That will full
fill your deepest dream: When a fire call comes in; Squad 41 will heed: But their friend and
fellow brother: Won't be with them as they leave. Our lives are sadly changed now: But we're
very proud of you: For the lives you tired to save that day: You're a hero through and through.

Just a Note Greg's beloved dog Dominic spent hours searching
with Gregs dad two days after the attack. "When the dog couldn't climb anymore " " George Jr. said"
"The firemen passed him around."

This is the picture of Gregory's 1939 Mack fire truck that is being restored for him by the members
of the Hillcrest Fire Department. This will be a memorial to all the victims of the diaster. A team
of about 50 Rockland firefighters, members of Kearsing Edwards American Legion post 1600 and 20 local
businesses under the direction of chief mechanic Joe McNamara, have a dream of their own-to restore the
fire truck in time for the New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade. This is the work in progress.
I didn't know Gregory but I know one thing he sure would be proud of this.

Squad 41 feels it has found fallen brothers Thursday, March 21,2002 and dispatch Public Affairs
Reporters Beth A. Keiser / Associated Press Rescue workers salute as New York firefighters carry
the flag- drapped remains of two victims from the World Trade site. About midnight Tuesday, just
when they thought they might get some sleep, they found sikorsky's helmet with some bone fragments
in it. Hopeful that the remains are Sikorskys, squad members invited his widow Marie, and other relatives
to witness a second procession from the site 2 a.m. yesterday. Last night , Torres and firefighter
Mike Lindy discovered a battered body they believe to be Sikorsky's. A positive identification could
take days. "It is very comforting to know where our guys were, " Vomerio said. Where they
were on Sept. 11 is a place where hero's were made. Reconsturcting the events of that day from fire
department radio transmissions and eyewittness accounts of surviving firefighters, Vomero learned that
the six were in the lobby on the 43rd floor when the tower collapsed at 10 a.m. The floor, an elevator-change
point for thousands in the 110 story -building, was heavily used. A Squad 41 Hurst Jaws of life was
found with the other equipement indicated that the squad members probably were trying to pry open elevators
doors and free riders. Two stretchers, draped with an American flag, might have contained the remains
of Lt. Mike Healey or firefighters, Tom Cullen, Bobby Hamilton, Mike Lyons, Greg Sikorsky and Bruce
VanHine Our hearts and prayers go out to all the families.

on Gregs Squad 41 This is a dedication and to the memory of the six brothers they lost on 9-11
Our Brothers Squad 41 won't be the same, When a call comes in today: All their brothers
will not heed, Because six were called away: They worked so hard to save the lives, Of strangers
on that day; They gave the greatest sacrifice: When the towers gave a way: They didn't think
a moment: Of their own lives in the least: They gave the very best they had: Not knowing of
their fate. Their brothers and their comrades: Heard the last call of their names: Now Station
41; Will never be the same; Their laughter and their memories: Will never fade away: They
live with in the hearts and minds, Of their comrades there to stay.
Written in memory of their
comrades: Michael Healey Thomas Cullen 3rd Robert Hamilton Michael Lyons Gregory Sikorsky

These are the memorial lights from where the twin towers once stood. They not only represent
to me the towers but more. They represent a light pointing towards Heaven. Let your light shine as
each of our hero's did that day. They gave the ultimate sacrifice, to save a friend, a loved one possibly
and a total stranger they had never met before. God Bless our great hero's.
